What’s Your Storyline For This Season?

Don The Idea Guy February 12, 2020

You may already know that I believe professionals in every business category should develop a heroic personal brand of their own. But what good is a hero if they aren’t featured in an exciting storyline?

Sure, Batman looks like a bad-ass but it’s not until we witness a storyline in which he faces adversity and seemingly unbeatable odds that we learn more about his capabilities, what drives him, and the things he values most.

Initial impressions of Tony Stark / Iron Man would lead you to believe he’s a pompous, selfish, braggart, and his story certainly starts with him portrayed in that manner, but as you move through the entire storyline you witness an evolution from the early version of a flawed man transformed into a self-sacrificing hero in the finale.

What storyline have you planned for your brand?

Consider planning your year (or your quarter) like a scriptwriter plots out the storyline for characters in a television show. Treat your days like individual episodes, moving the story along week by week and building to a big payoff in the season finale.

Launching a course?
Perhaps your episodes are all about developing the content and the season finale is when your course goes live.

Publishing a book?
Each episode could be about collecting content and roughing out chapters. Designing the cover and planning the launch. Your season ends with the book being available to purchase on Amazon.com.

The Ugly Back

Everyone goes to the museum to admire the pretty fronts of artistic tapestries, but the ugly backs face the wall and are rarely on display. My wife decided she wanted to host a big family Thanksgiving this year. While we were in the process of cleaning up the house and putting our (my) clutter. Hapy […]

Want hot ideas? Let the tap run.

I’ve written in the past about how I come up with some many good ideas (spoiler alert: it’s because I also come up with so many bad ideas). I’ve also shared how important it is to throw away the first dozen or so ideas you come up with because they’re not going to be especially […]
