KickStart Your Week : Sam Wilder

Don The Idea Guy March 25, 2013

radio-wow-logo01Tomas Lydahl and I sit down with this week’s guest Sam Wilder for lessons on putting a positive attitude into action.

Sam began his career as a radio personality. After ten years of radio poverty he entered the world of direct mail sales and worked his way into ownership of direct mail coupon business.

Bored with the world of “junk mail” sales, Sam started a local home and garden magazine in 2000 called Housetrends which expanded to fifteen cities by 2006. Housetrends followed the economic bell curve and is now published in five cities.

In 2012 Sam launched Positive media with his first issue of Positive Magazine published in October 2012.

Sam’s Four Hot Tips for living a Positive life:

Sam Wilder1) Continue discovering, defining and giving your authentic self and your gifts.
All of us have special gift and purpose. What is yours? Surround yourself with people who recognize your gifts and help you develop them. Sometime it’s a mentor and sometimes it’s someone who needs your help and your gift. Give of yourself to others and in doing so you’ll receive in an even bigger way. The greatest minds in the world give their love and their talents freely.

2) The frailty of life is what creates the enchantment.
Appreciate the gift of every moment of every day as much as you are able. When time passes quickly, you are doing something you love or are with someone who brings you joy.

3) Embrace emotion as the great teacher it is.
Whenever you feel emotion, run toward it – not away from it. Discovering where anger and sadness and happiness come from within us, helps teach us who we are and why we behave like we do.

4) Forgive yourself and then forgive everyone who has ever caused you pain.
We are not here to live with suffering. We are here to enjoy our very limited time in these bodies of clay. In the end, all we are is the experiences we’ve had with others.

The End.

This is the end of my blog posts. It’s been a good run. It has been rewarding for me and I hope you’ve found some information of value buried amongst the poor self-editing and (probably) way too many words used to attempt an explanation of my ideas. I made a commitment to myself at the […]

Job Duties vs. Opportunities

“That’s not my job.” I’ve heard this phrase uttered way too much in the workplace during my career. The sentence is usually being shot off like a gun intended to blast anyone else in the vicinity of the person’s ire. People tend to have a narrow view of what their job duties entail, and they […]

Don’t Lose Your Head

There are people who drive you absolutely bonkers (I feel your pain), and make you lose your cool at work. They don’t “do the work” and expect other people to cover for them, they’re constantly running their mouths all day instead of actually doing their work, they play their music through speakers instead of ear […]
